Mother's Day Moment

Relaxing in the front seat of the car as freshly-turned fields rolled past the passenger window and the late afternoon sun beamed on us with a false sense of warmth on a mid-May day, our son said,

"Thank you for spending your Mother's Day at my soccer game, Mom."

I replied, "I don't know a better way to spend it, buddy."
