The British Indian Awards presented by business advisory and accountancy firm, BDO LLP will be an evening of celebration and recognition, rewarding the continuing strength of the British Indian community, recognising those who thrive, evolve and capture the multicultural spirit of Great Britain.

With nominations flooding in from all over the UK the prestigious award ceremony which is being held on the 17th of May at the St. Johns Hotel in Birmingham is shaping up to be full of some the top names in business, politics, professional and various other industries.

The British Indian Awards are not solely focused on recognition, but will also be a platform to raise funds and awareness for a children’s charity in India, Pratham UK.

Pratham UK was seeded in Mumbai by UNICEF and Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai in 1994 with a mission to ensure "every child in school and learning well".  www.pratham.org.uk

Pratham works with village communities, governments, corporate and volunteers to provide a model that is economic, scalable and does not replicate government infrastructure. At its peak, in 2008-2009, the Read India campaign run by Pratham covered 305,000 out of the 600,000 villages of India and reached over 33 million children across 22 of 28 Indian states.

“Pratham is very delighted to be associated with this prestigious event and hopefully this will help us raise awareness about our cause in the midlands which we have long regarded as a potential support base; hopefully this will be the beginning of a deep friendship with the people of Birmingham”, said Vinati Sukhdev, Executive Director of Pratham UK.

Amit Arora, Business Development Director of event organisers Oceanic Consulting commented “We are delighted to be working with a charity that helps educate children. Giving children a chance to learn well so they can go on to build a great future for themselves is a gift, and we are honoured to be involved in supporting Pratham UK to achieve this goal”.
